Very unusual yoyo doll quilt.

All silk and silk velvet, this exquisite work includes ribbon work, embroidery, silk chenille and hand paintings. The 2.5" attached hand crocheted lace border can be removed if you choose to do so. This is a complete original miniature quilt, not a fragment.

Complete original condition, machine pieced, minimal machine quilting. A child's doll quilt, it would have been advantageous to make a child's doll quilt by machine because of its normally excessive use. This quilt however was never used.

Complete original condition. One can easily tell by the shape of this quilt and some of the pieces that a child definitely had a hand in its creation, probably alongside her mother or grandmother.

This little doll’s quilt is a small graphic treasure with its classic palette of red and white. Five hand pieced Ohio Star blocks measuring 5 1/2 inches square have been set with white joining blocks. A red hand embroidered letter ‘D’ resides in one corner – possibly the first initial of the name of the doll to whom this quilt belonged, or her little mother. A 1 3/4 inch white border surrounds the nine inner blocks with a sweet two toned corded binding in the palest of pinks as a final touch. It is treadle machine quilted with diagonal cross hatching spaced 1 inch apart. This is a wonderful little quilt that has been used but lovingly cared for by small hands. There is a small area of smudging on the binding (seen in photo) that does not detract from the quilt. Professionally hand washed by Betsey.

A wonderful little crazy quilt made by a mother for her child. Foundation pieced using wools, cottons and cotton sateens this lovely little quilt was executed entirely by hand. Embellished on all seams with cotton twists in soft shades of blue, pink, yellow and white with a hand stitched dedication from "Mamma To Nellie" and the year "1901". See detail images. The backing is solid black cotton sateen pillowcase edged to the quilt's top with embellishment stitching all around. There is no bat between the quilt's foundation fabric and the backing. In excellent condition this wonderful little quilt is a very sweet find!

In excellent original condition, this sweet little Bowtie quilt has been created from a variety of circa 1928 calicoes, florals, stripes and geometric prints. Completely hand pieced and quilted each block is just 3 inches square. Every little piece has been outline quilted by hand. The floral cotton backing is striking and has navy flowers and leaves outlined with red on a white background. The separately applied white binding is a scant ¼ inches wide. A little treasure. A sweet 20th century cotton pinwheel doll quilt with a diamond in a square center. In excellent condition this little darling is soft and freshly washed by Betsey. Hand pieced and hand quilted with tulips in the 2 inch wide pink border, with echo outline in the border's four corners. Tulips are stitched in the four corners of the inner block design. A quilted four petal flower motif is centered within the 4 stitched tulips. Blocks measure approximately 2 3/4 inches square with great fabrics consisting of a rose,pink, blue and white floral calico, solid white, and a rose and blue mini print on white. The backing is white and the bat is thin with a nice loft. This little quilt is pillowcase edged with top stitching by hand 1/16th from the edge. A wonderful little quilt once used by a young girl for her doll, ready to be used and loved again.

This wonderful diminutive quilt has been hand and machine sewn in a Cathedral Windows pattern, using a happy green, orange, and yellow floral cotton with a white background. A 1/2 inch binding in the same floral cotton nicely frames this little gem, and it is ready and waiting to be displayed in your home as miniature art or given to a special child. In hardly used condition. Professionally hand washed by Betsey.

This sweet solid teal and white doll quilt is treadle machine pieced. The backing was folded to the front forming the border and finished with a topstitch all around - one inch wide on the long sides and 1/4 inch top and bottom. Pink cotton floss ties on the front hold the backing to the quilt top with no bat between. Blocks measure 3 1/4" x 3 3/8" with four blocks forming a circle. A sweet and wonderful early 20th century teal and white doll quilt in excellent condition. A small graphic treasure hand washed by Betsey.

This little cotton quilt is completely hand stitched - we believe by a child as indicated by the stitching on the squares. The squares vary in size and do not line up evenly - small hands learning their way with a pair of fabric shears we imagine. Even the eyelet around the edge is sewn on by hand between the top and backing fabrics. The outer blue, green and white border is made up of 10 or more 'scrap' pieces of the same fabric - probably from a quilt or dress her mother made. The scraps were hand sewn together to form the border. The sweet backing fabric is a pink scroll pattern on off white and it, too, is hand pieced from multiple scraps. This little quilt is not quilted or tied and there is no bat between. A very sweet all hand sewn early 20th century doll quilt.

This sweet c.1880 doll quilt in original condition is comprised of just two fabrics; a lovely unusual black, gray and white calico print which has mellowed to brown and white, and a solid off white. This is a very rare combination, especially in a doll quilt. Hand pieced squares measure approximately 1 3/8" with some of the squares made up of two or three pieces of fabric sewn together. It appears this little girl used the remnants from one of her mother's quilts!

Hand quilting is slightly uneven and done in a cross hatch pattern with no batting between the layers. The backing folds to the front and is hand stitched down forming the 1/4" binding which shows some wear. Hand washed by Betsey, this sweet piece retains early stains and discoloration. A few early mends, we like to think done by the young quilter or her mother, add to the sweetness of this quilt.

All original with a red silk backing and a very nice yellow silk ribbon used as a binding which is hand stitched down front and back in tiny, neat stitches. This lovely little doll quilt was probably made by a mother for her child from a left over crazy quilt block. In near perfect condition front and back, the only thing we find amiss is a slight discoloration on one side to the yellow silk ribbon which can be seen in the photo above. The embellishment stitching is executed in silk by an experienced hand and there is no thinning, fraying or tears to the silk and silk velvet patches. There are even some basting stitches remaining from the original construction. Neither quilted nor tied.

Hand pieced and quilted this all original doll quilt has an approximately one inch wide cheater cloth border making it extra special. Log cabin blocks measure 6 x 6 with logs varying in width from 1/2" to 7/8". The hand quilting and possibly the piecing of the blocks look to be done by little hands. The chimneys have one large 'X' hand stitched from corner to corner, and the logs and cheater cloth border all have a center line stitched in white thread in slightly uneven, irregular quilting stitches. There is one very early seam mend in black thread visible on the front which we have not touched. The 3/8" solid green binding was applied half by treadle machine and then stitched down by hand on the back side. A very nice medium weight solid deep blue cotton was used for the backing - see detail pics. This little treasure showcases a nice variety of 1920's fabrics in a multicolored palette within a great cheater cloth border. A very happy little quilt.
