BTG12 Folk Art Courthouse Steps
c.1895
68 x 82 inches
New England
$750

This folk art log cabin is comprised of cotton velvet, silk velvet, wool and cotton corduroy. The center squares are various wools, silks and velvets and are apx 2 1/2 inches. The logs are apx 1 inch wide and the binding is 3/8 inch silk velvet. The back is an abstract 1890-1910 cotton. The blocks are apx 14 inches square overall. There is a small amount of fade that is hard to discern but because of it, there is a much reduced price. This quilt has been in my private collection for 20 years and it’s now time for a new home. Optical illusion and folky, this courthouse steps log cabin is a great graphic for the wall or the bed. Because of the repeat pattern, this quilt could be folded nicely around a wood dowel if you have a smaller space. Also perfect to be folded at the bottom of a queen or king size bed.
