CON 13 Red & Green Snowball / Broken Dishes with Triple Border

A gorgeous antique quilt created in red and green using a combination of the Broken Dishes and Snowball quilt patterns. Blocks measuring 5 inches square contain one octagon piece and four corner triangles measuring 1 1/2 inches. A mesmerizing effect is achieved through the positive/negative arrangement of octagons (snowballs) and triangles (broken dishes) and the use of the complementary colors of red and green. A stunning graphic piece of art for your bed or hung on the wall.
A single black flower print on deep red cotton and a cotton calico of green, yellow and rust are the only two fabrics used in this lovely quilt. Hand pieced and beautifully hand quilted with 3/4 inch cross hatch stitching in the red octagons and double parallel lines in the green, the three approximately 3 inch wide borders are echo arc quilted. The 1/4 inch binding is formed by the front outer border turned to the back and carefully hand stitched down.
The backing is a lovely mustard and green floral leaf and acorn print on a taupe ground. This is a gorgeous red and green quilt that would be marvelous as art on your wall or equally as charming on a bed. This quilt is in mint condition and is ready to send to you on approval. Betsey is happy to wash this quilt if the buyer requests it. |
