This stunning, exquisitely quilted pre-Civil War quilt has fabulous graphic appeal and is a perfect example of textile art at its finest. In unused condition, made from gorgeous, deep indigo and sparkling white cotton, this quilt is a prize for any collection. The sharply defined pattern of feathers and sawtooth has amazing dimension due to the meticulous and intricate quilting of medallions, plumes, cross hatching and diagonal 1/4 inch lines executed by a very experienced and clever hand. The outer border on two sides of the quilt is 5 1/2 inches wide, including a 1/4 inch separately applied indigo binding, a 4 3/4 inch white border, and a 1 /38 inch triangular inner border. The other two sides have a 2 ¾ inch white border, including the ¼ inch binding. In Betsey's opinion, this spectacular textile showcases some of the finest examples of hand quilting she has ever seen!
Professionally hand washed by Betsey.
