F146 Victorian Crazy Quilt Fragment

This wonderful little fragment was rescued from the same quilt as F141. Foundation pieced onto scarlet polished cotton, and hand embellished along all seam lines with silk twist in a variety of colors. Stitches include fly, feather, twisted herringbone, chain, and zigzag. We finished this fragment with a wool blanket stuffing, ¼ inch separately applied same date black silk binding, and a same date backing of gold, brown, and yellow falling leaves on a taupe-brown background.
