F151 Folk Variation of Cotton Crazy Summer Quilt Fragment

This fragment is from a cotton crazy summer quilt with a light tan cotton backing. Each approximately 10 inch square block was hand pieced, appliquéd or reverse appliquéd with a large assortment of taupe, brown, indigo, red, and brownish-rose cottons in prints, checks, stripes, polka dots, plaids, and solids, including a wonderful taupe and brown toile print upholstery fabric. Each block was then hand bound with a 3/8 inch Turkey red calico binding. Finally, all the blocks were then whip stitched together with tiny hand stitches to finish the quilt. Very interesting! With its unusual construction technique and folk art flair, this fragment would be perfect as art for the wall. Professionally hand washed by Betsey, please ask her for more details.
