This great smaller sized quilt is an example of a “hired man’s quilt”; made specifically to fit on a trundle bed. This quilt is a wonderful piece of history, and a fabulously graphic piece of textile art with its khaki, red and chrome orange border. The backing is an unusual floral on a geometric print in shades of brick red, khaki and rose. Chain stitches from the early treadle sewing machine are visible on the back of this quilt, which gives added interest. Professionally hand washed by Betsey.
