Q8183 Ocean Wave
Dated Jan. 18, 1907
64 x 82
Maryland
$3,200
Believed to be of Mennonite origin, this unused Ocean Wave quilt has been created in a seldom seen but currently popular color palette of chocolate brown and white. All hand pieced with triangles measuring approximately 2 x 2 x 2 ¾ inches, and hand quilted with miniscule stitches. The waves have been diagonally quilted in lines spaced 3/8 of an inch apart, and the white centers have been quilted in a double line pattern. The maker of this quilt dated her work “JAN. 18, 1907” with tiny double line quilting in one corner. The 3/8 inch separately applied binding is the same chocolate brown print, and the backing is off-white muslin. Professionally hand washed by Betsey.
