This graphically stunning Mennonite quilt was made by an extremely skilled quilter with a bold and confident eye for color. Vibrant double pink and overdyed green fabrics have been pieced and appliqued in a variation of a Prince's Feather inside a Sawtooth Diamond. The extravagant use of the same purchased yardage for both the front and back of the quilt indicates the quilter came from an affluent family. The backing has been formed by alternating 7 3/4 inch bars of pink and green, allowing this quilt to be totally reversible and equally gorgeous no matter what side is displayed! The tiny and precise quilting has been completed in outline, crosshatch, and serpentine feather patterns, and unlike many Pennsylvania quilts, the 1/4 inch overdyed green binding has been applied separately. A label with the inscription "Ms. A.F. Brandt, Falmouth, PA" was probably attached to the back corner of the quilt sometime at a much later date. This beautiful quilt has it all; color, graphics, skilled needlework, and in unused condition. Perfect! Professionally hand washed by Betsey.
