This vibrant quilt catches the eye with its deep, rich double pink background, reversing the usual graphic effect of this pattern on a light background. There are two different double pinks and an assortment of 1880's light prints and calicoes in the star, formed from 2 1/4 inch diamonds. The 3/8 inch binding has been turned over from the front to the back. The off white backing has the feel of feedsack fabric, which would be most unusual, as the fabrics used in the top are high quality cottons. The diamonds have been outline quilted, and the remainder of the quilt crosshatched in a 1 inch grid. All hand pieced and hand quilted, this quilt also comes with its maker's name, passed down through the family. Professionally hand washed by Betsey.
