Q8482 Red and White Alternating Diamond in a Square and Broken Dishes
c.1880

$2,100
In fabulous unused condition, with great graphics in the very sought after red and white color palette, this quilt is a graphic artist's dream for a bed or wall. The quilter hand pieced 6 inch blocks of Diamond in a Square and Broken Dishes using ecru muslin and a mixture of Turkey red and red cotton. She then set them in an alternating pattern and bordered the quilt with half blocks of the same alternating pattern. A variation Betsey has never seen! The separately applied red binding is 3/8 inches wide, and the backing is the same ecru muslin as was used on the front of the quilt. The body of the quilt has been hand outline quilted . The border has an overlapping hand quilted cable pattern. Professionally hand washed by Betsey.
