Q8604 Alternating Log Cabin/Diagonal Bars
c. 1890
62 x 64

SOLD
A feast for the eyes, this stunningly graphic pineapple log cabin quilt with diagonal bars shows a wonderful use of color and movement. The quiltmaker chose a sophisticated color palette and created areas of especially high contrast so the graphics would pop out at the viewer. Each block is approximately 8 ¼ inches square with all logs and bars approximately 1 inch wide. The wool challis fabrics date from 1860 through the 1880’s with reverse tie quilting used throughout. The border is royal blue wool crepe and the backing is blue wool. In unused condition, this quilt is truly a lovely example of textile art.
