$3400 pair
A stunning pair of antique quilts in the Rising Sun pattern that are vibrant and alive with movement. These quilts are each comprised of thirty Turkey red and yellow suns surrounded by 3” wide red and yellow bar sashing. Positive energy radiates from each quilt which mirror each other in pattern, with quilt (b) possessing a very slightly darker solid yellow fabric than was used in quilt (a) shown above. The reds and the whites are identical.
Each approx. 10 ½” sun block has been pieced by hand with the sashing added by machine. Hand quilting on the pair includes outline stitching in the sun blocks and cables in the sashing. The backing on each quilt is white and folds over to the front to form the ¼” hand stitched binding.
Finding a pair of early quilts is such a rarity. This pair is exceptional in that they are skillfully executed in wonderful solid fabrics in a palette that is currently sought after by collectors and designers alike. These quilts have been professionally washed by Betsey and, as always, can be shipped to you on approval. |
