Q8662 Pineapple Log Cabinc.1885
66 x 66 (167.6 x 167.6 cm)
This is a wonderful example of antique textile graphic art and would be stunning hung on a wall. Executed in a wonderful palette, this Pineapple Log Cabin shows a fantastic use of symmetry and movement. The quilt maker chose for her elegant color palette rich wine and maroon, tans, gray and over dyed green. She took great care with color placement creating a soothing symmetry to balance the vivid graphic appeal of the pineapple pattern.
The cotton fabrics comprising this quilt date from the 1870’s into the 1880’s. Each Log Cabin block is approximately 13 inches square with all logs approximately 3/4 inch wide. The quilt is foundation pieced by hand and also quilted by hand using light thread. The cotton backing is a medium scale olive, red and white floral stripe which can also be found on the front. The applied binding is a white dot on maroon cotton 1/4 of an inch wide.
In excellent condition this quilt is a fantastic piece of graphic art and would be wonderful as the focal point in any room. Professionally hand washed by Betsey, please ask to see this quilt on approval in the privacy of your home. Ask Betsey for more details.
