A glorious Tree of Life quilt in excellent condition from the early 20th century Pennsylvania Amish. A two color palette in solid black and purple combined with a stunningly graphic pattern produce an amazing piece of textile art. Tree blocks 15 1/2 inches square are set on point with solid black joining blocks.

Pieced by treadle sewing machine this cotton quilt is beautifully hand quilted using white thread displaying the highly skilled hand of the maker. Wonderful feathered wreaths surround stars with diagonal cross hatch centers. The 2 1/2 inch interior purple border contains stylized chain quilting with 1 1/4 inch diagonal cross hatching in the 5 inch outer black border. Pieced trees are entirely outline quilted with additional floral and geometric shapes in the black ground surrounding the trees - just spectacular.

Backed in the same solid purple cotton used in the front design with an applied 3/8 inch binding also in the same purple cotton. Professionally hand washed by Betsey this is an amazing piece of Amish graphic art and would be stunning on a bed or used as art on your wall.
