A wonderful Civil War era bassinet quilt in perfect condition. The diamonds that form the tumbling blocks measure 1 3/4 inches per side. The color palette is warm and consists of two brown, tan and ecru calicoes, a sweet brown on tan polka dot, a blue, white and brown cotton plaid, and a solid tan cotton. The fabric patterns were carefully arranged by the maker to form a center medallion - a very nice touch that adds even more graphic appeal to the wonderful Tumbling Blocks pattern. Completely hand pieced using very tiny stitches, and outline hand quilted throughout.
The backing of the quilt is a great rust and brown on tan small scale floral cotton which is also used for the applied 3/8 inch all hand binding that follows the shape of the tumbling blocks. This perfect little quilt appears unused and has been professionally hand washed by Betsey. It can be sent to you on approval for private review.
