Betsey found this quilt top as a “piece in progress”, measuring approximately 96 x 98 inches. Upon closer inspection, she realized the quilt top was actually two tops pieced together. One side was created from circa 1928 fabrics, and the other side from circa 1945 fabrics. We can guess that someone in the 1940’s wanted to finish an earlier quilt top, and simply continued the same pattern with fabrics of her day. The first photograph shows the entire quilt top, and detail shots are from each side. QT117a is the circa 1928 side, and measures 58 x 98 inches. QT117b is the circa 1945 side, and measures 41 x 91 inches. We have removed the seam joining these two tops, so that they may be purchased separately or together.
