Q8310 Double Nine Patch on Point - Initialed and Dated Dated 1839, signed SB 92 x 102 Pennsylvania $7,800 For seekers of rare and early quilts – this is a major piece of art. While photographing we couldn’t take our eyes off it! An absolutely fabulous signed and dated 1839 antique quilt in the Double Nine Patch on Point pattern. Completely hand made and hand quilted the front is in excellent condition and is all original with fantastic early block and copper print fabrics. The setting blocks are a lovely red and white early copper print of birds, butterflies, florals and birdbaths. Blocks are 8 ½ inches on point with the Nine Patch squares a tiny 7/8 of an inch in size. They are executed in indigo blue, tans, browns, cream and reds in calicoes and floral prints with off white joining blocks. The sophisticated 10 3/8 inch very early toile chintz border adds another layer of beauty to this already unique jewel. It is in hues of brown and white and features an elegant pattern of archways, pediments, florals and leaf sprays. A truly incredible array of fabrics in this beautiful and very early piece. Hand quilting is done in outline and diagonal lines with additional embellishments in the setting blocks and border. There are two sleeves for hanging on the back of this masterpiece so it’s ready to display in your home! Please call Betsey for further information. |

| Betsey Telford is a member of the prestigious Antiques Council of America, as well as the Maine Antiques Dealers Association (MADA), the New Hampshire Dealers Association (NHDA), and the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiques (SPNEA). Rocky Mountain Quilts specializes in the full range of antique quilts dating from 1780 to the 1940’s. However, our African American pieces date from pre Civil War into the 1960’s. My inventory reflects all categories of quilts; pieced, appliqued, folk art, Mennonite, Amish, African American, Victorian Crazy quilts, and Broderie Perse, among others. Antique quilts can be made solely from cotton, wool, or silk, or made from a combination of these fabrics. Our antique quilts are truly textile art for the wall or bed. We have quilts to fit beds of all sizes, from doll to king, and about 90% of our quilts have been professionally hand washed by me. We also offer antique quilt tops, blocks, quilt fragments, feedsacks, and vintage linens. Did you know that antique quilts are the most under priced art form in America today? Whether you are just beginning, or already a major collector, let me help you find the perfect piece of textile art to grace your home. Purchase with confidence; all of my quilts are guaranteed for authenticity and condition. |
