In amazing condition, this wonderful quilt has a color palette both warm and wonderfully vibrant. The Ocean Wave pattern is a wonderful vehicle for showcasing 19th century fabrics in fabulous colors and prints - in this beautiful piece the latest is c.1875. Double borders in white linen (3½ inches wide) and Indigo blue calico (3 inches) frame the skillfully hand pieced inner design. The backing is white linen with a ¼ inch applied white linen binding. Skillfully hand quilted throughout in parallel diagonal lines for the double border and ocean wave blocks, with ⅝ inch cross hatch stitching in the white linen blocks. A stunning quilt that would be gorgeous on a bed or as graphic art for the wall it is in excellent, apparently unused condition. Professionally hand washed by Betsey and can be shipped to you on approval for private viewing. |
