BTG86 Sunflower Green and Yellow Quilt Top
c.1930
70 x 90 inches

$650
My first reaction to this top is.."Wow...this is a happy quilt top".
Mostly pieced by hand with some machine piecing, this pattern is
difficult to execute. Piecing a circular pattern ranks up there with the
most complecated construction in quilt piecing. Not only is this quilt
top perfectly executed, but the palate chosen is made to make one
smile. Sunflowers surrounded by the sun with a perfect green to finish
the environment. The petals are a range of c.1925 and early 30's
calicoes including at least one conversation print. All fabrics are a
fine cotton. There are two squares with a different green
background..guess she just ran out of the first green and went on to a
compatible green..it's called "character".
The pattern consists of 20 blocks; each block is 20" square. The
sunflowers have a 15" diameter with the diameter of each center of the
flower measuring 4-1/2". There are 19 petals in each sunflower,
measuring 6" in length.
The generous size of this very happy feeling quilt top will make this
finished quilt top perfect to use and enjoy.
