BTGCOLLECTION Quaker Album Quilt

$5400

I have to tell everyone that I love this quilt. It has been hanging in my house for the last 6 years. However, it’s time for a change. Now someone else can own this masterpiece. Finding an early 19th century Quaker quilt is hard to do. The nine 16” blocks are bordered with a 4-1/2” wide 18th century hand painted block print fabric. There is a 1/8” border turned over from back to front, indicative of PA.

The top center block displays The Book of Knowledge. People of the Quaker faith started and ran some the earliest and finest schools in America. The Turkey red calico fabric was one of the most expensive fabrics that one could purchase at that time. The quilt is all handmade. It’s appliquéd and reverse appliquéd. The little birds have embroidered food in their beaks. Some of the flowers have embroidered accents. Mother Nature and the Universe were important to this person.

Sleeves have been hand applied on the back so this is ready to hang. Organically hand washed by Betsey and ready to go home with you on approval. Please ask for more details.
