BTGCOLLECTION29 Child's Practice Crazy Quilt
c.1885
7-1/2 x 7-1/2 inches
Massachusetts
$425

This diminutive practice piece was executed by a child to emulate what her mother, grandmother or aunt were doing. It was created from exquisite silks and in an exact format, including the border. Displayed here are the different stitches the child was being taught. The four border fabrics all use the selvedge of each piece. I’ve had this in my private collection for over 20 years. Coming from Massachusetts, as I did, it is now time for this child’s practice quilt to have a new home.
