CONJS2 Barn Raising Log Cabin Quilt
c.1885
78 x 78 inches
Pennsylvania
$2,600
This is the first time in almost 40 years that I have seen chimneys
on a Log Cabin quilt that have a printed fabric as the chimney. Many
factors take this quilt to a higher level. In addition to the print
chimneys are the two wide borders.
The pattern was created from Logs measuring between 2" and 7" in length
and 7/8" in width. The entire quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted. The
quilting design is a Herringbone design, also unusual to this pattern.
The binding is turned from the front to the back and measures 1/4". Each
of the borders measure apx. 5" in width. The inner border is the same
fabric as the chimneys while the outer border is an earlier deep red
calico. The colors of the logs are..chrome orange, medium blue, light
blue, variation of white calicoes, variations of red calicoes, double
pink, solid pink, a red plaid, as well as black calicoes and stripes. The
backing was created from cotton feedsacks with large label markings on
one sack still visible.
This graphically wonderful quilt has never been used or washed. Now
organically hand washed and ready to be loved. Always sent on approval,
with free shipping.
