What a stunning quilt in rich shades of chocolate brown and cheddar yellow, with a delightful pop of early double pink! All hand pieced; the miniature scale Stars of Bethlehem are approximately 12 inches across from tip to tip, and set in a Rolling Star formation. The 5 ¼ inch border includes the ¼ separately applied madder dyed paisley binding, and the backing is ecru linen. The stars and border have been outline quilted by hand, and the brown joining blocks hand quilted with various leaf shapes. Originally quilted with coordinating thread colors, the brown thread has faded to light tan on the front, allowing the quilted leaves to be more easily seen against their chocolate background. This quilt has been registered with the New York Quilt Project, and bears a fabric tag stating “12 – WWV, Museum of American Folk Art, New York, NY. The New York Quilt Project, 5/13/89”. Professionally hand washed by Betsey and ready for your enjoyment on a queen sized bed, or as a fabulous piece of art for the wall.
