Broderie Perse Quilt Fragments
From an original quilt dated 1767
One panel 15 x 15 $500 each
Two panels 15 x 30 SOLD

Each of these beautiful fragments was saved from the same original but partially damaged Broderie Perse quilt containing a quilted date of 1767. An amazingly beautiful Broderie Perse quilt which had the figures stuffed making them 3-dimensional.

Broderie Perse fabric was printed in India for the Anglo-American market. From these prints many elegant birds, animals and figures were cut out and appliqued onto fine cotton or linen. Some, including these, were stuffed to give dimension. The solid background was hand quilted using linen thread.

Each fragment has been bound by hand using the Turkey red fabric from the original sashing of the quilt.
