Entirely hand pieced and hand quilted using a combination of white and brown cotton threads. Most likely her brown thread was originally a tobacco dyed green which has oxidized over time. Some of the maker's quilting threads were knotted on top, not hidden in the batting, and can be seen if you look closely. The maker used an overall one inch crosshatch quilting pattern, with a concentric circle motif quilted in the stars. The ¼ inch separately applied binding is a circa 1860 fabric and the backing is off white cotton.

A beautiful and cozy LeMoyne Star quilt which has been used and lovingly cared for and in excellent, clean condition. Professionally hand washed by Betsey, please ask her for more details and to see this quilt on approval in the privacy of your home.
