QT211 Nine Patch with Alternating Plaid Blocks Quilt Top
c.1925
62 x 62 inches
Maine
$225
If you love Depression Era plaids, stipes and checks...this is the quilt
top for you.:-) Comprized of dozens of different plaids, stripes and
checks in the Nine patch block pattern each with 9" sides. There are
24 blocks which represent the colors of the Depression Era.
The nine patch blocks are all joined with an unusual red and white
plaid placed on the diagonal. Besides the red plaid large squares the
other colors used are: navy blue, medium blue, bright yellow, greens and
even a smidgen of black and purple.
Hand pieced by a frugal quilter (during the depression most were
thrifty due to the circumstances of the era). Character is seeing small
squares pieced from smaller pieces.
What a fun top to quilt or use as a fun table covering.
