A perfectly executed Checkerboard pattern quilt top is raedy for you to finish. As this quilt top was machine pieced you may safely finish the top by the tying method or hand or machine quilt. All fabrics are mint. There is a huge array of c.1880's fabrics with a few c.1890's fabrics seen here. Due to that discovery I am dating the quilt top C.1890. Burgendy was one of the predominant colors used during the 1880's. Burgundy sashing shows me that the creator of this Checkerboard quilt top was holding on to that fashion statement.

Each Checkerboard square has 16 3-1/2" squares, with a total of 56 blocks. Each full square is comprised of four 4-patch blocks of alternating colors. Each block is apx 7" and made up of four squares; each square is made of four smaller squares apx. 3-1/2" in width. All squares have a wonderful variety of patterns. The 1-3/4" sashing is a deep burgundy color with very tiny white polkadots. I feel that apx. 95% of the fabrics are c.1880'S.

Perfectly executed and ready to be finished either by machine, by hand or tied.
