A hooked rug depicting a sailboat under full sail on the seas is so
appropriate for Maine as for all of The Eastern Coast. Hooked rugs have
been popular for well over a century. This rug was created around 1915
to 1920. Even though the rug has been used, to me this just adds
character to the piece.
The colors are all of faded shades of the original. We have a black 2"
outer border, a 5/8" faded red inner border, a 1/8" black border..a
green ocean...blue and off white striped sky. The sailboat is black, off
white and pale red. There are two flags flying of unknown origin.
The craftsmanship, executed on a burlap backing, is in excellent
condition to be used as originally intended or as a Nautical piece of
art for your wall.
