A doll quilt is a perfect piece of art for a small area. This completely original doll quilt is the exact replica of a full size quilt. Created using the 9 block formation, 5 of the 9 blocks are a miniature signature block. The diminutive blocks are pieced by hand, the inside border is applied by hand and the outside border is applied by machine. The blocks measure apx 4-1/2“ square and the plain blocks are a pink and white stripe chambray fabric that is also seen in the miniature signature block squares. The borders are outline quilted with extra horizontal outer border quilting. There are two borders, just the same as we would see on an adult quilt. The inside border measures 1” in width, the outside border 2-1/4” which includes a 1/4” applied binding. The binding is in a complementary c.1920s calico white fabric border. The quilter used precise stitches to outline each block and then sewed an x from corner to corner within the 9 patch squares. The fabrics on this quilt date from 1880 - 1928. In mint condition, this precious doll quilt, now a piece of art, was never used.
