Tumbling blocks with fabrics dating back to 1840. A tumbling blocks quilt is actually an optical illusion. Turned one way it is stacking blocks, turned the other direction it becomes stars. A fabulous array of early fabrics. The largest variety of fabrics seems to have been printed during the 1870s. A perfect way to use small pieces would be in the creation of very graphic tumbling blocks. Hand pieced and hand quilted.
