F119 Fragment—Broken Dishes
c.1850
apx. 36”x 60”
Believed to be from New England
$525

This fragment is comprised of an unbelievable array of wool challis and wool fabrics.  The 7” squares are all hand pieced and hand quilted.  The backing is a wonderful twig-like calico print and the binding is of red wool.  This piece had to have been made by an affluent family due the fact that wool challis fabrics were (and are) very expensive.
