F141 Silk Victorian Crazy Quilt Fragment

This wonderful little fragment was rescued from the same quilt as F146. Foundation pieced onto scarlet polished cotton, and hand embellished along all seam lines with silk twist in a variety of colors. Stitches include fly, feather, twisted herringbone, chain, and zigzag. We finished this fragment with a wool blanket stuffing, a ¼ inch separately applied black same date silk binding, and a lovely same date backing of gold, brown, and yellow falling leaves on a taupe-brown background.
