Betsey believes all evidence points to an African American origin for this quilt, in spite of its lack of provenance. The large gentle arcs of neat and functional quilting, the overall style of the strip piecing, with the use of intentionally random sized pieces all indicate the symbol filled work of an African American quilter. This special quilt has seen some gentle use, but is in very good condition. The edges on two sides have been turned over from the back to the front, and pillowcase edged on the remaining two sides. The backing has been formed by piecing feedsacks. Professionally hand washed by Betsey.
